Investment activities in the field of sport and recreation are very socially desirable. However, activities in this area are characterized by high infrastructure costs and significant maintenance costs. In financial terms, the implementation of such projects is unprofitable. On the other hand, from a socio-economic point of view, municipalities with adequate facilities for sports and recreation are characterized by a better life quality for residents. The article presents an analysis of the determinants that influence the decision-making process by communities in terms of implementation of a project in the field of sports and recreation infrastructure. It shows the complexity of the problems that a decision maker has to deal with while constructing such objects.
