Icchok Lejbusz Peretz in the interwar Polish-Jewish press

Abstract

Icchok Lejbusz Peretz, classic of Yiddish literature, was a writer endowed with great poetic imagination, social and ethical sensitivity. In this article we will discuss the two issues: the first concerns the publication of his works in the Polish-Jewish press. In the mid-thirties of 20. century his stories and fairy tales for children were published in many magazines (“Izraelita”, “Głos żydowski”, “Nasz Przegląd”). The second issue concerns the memories, articles, sketches about Peretz by Szymon An-sky, Sholem Asch, Marc Chagall, Henry Kon, Moses Kanfer.
