Many company branches of the Solidarity Trade Union were established in Piła region after the signing of the August Agreements in 1980. The Security Service unit, which deals with the newly formed trade union, was the Department III A KW MO in Piła. It was subordinated to the Department III A the Ministry of the Interior. The main task of the officers from this unit was working out of the whole structure of the Solidarity Trade Union. Initially Security Service activities aimed at eliminating of people from the structures of the trade union, which were considered as the most radical. Among others activities Security Service in Piła led the case with the cryptonym „Tade Union” (pol. „Związek”). This case concerned activities of members of the Solidarity Trade Union in the province Pila. Security Service skilfully influenced the actions of leadership of the Solidarity Trade Union by using so-called „personal sources of information”. The biggest role played a secret collaborator, who used the pseudonym „Grażyna”. After introduction of martial law in Poland in December 1981 many activists from the Piła Solidarity Trade Union were interned.
