THE CURRENT STATE OF CORPORATE CREDIT CLAIM QUALITY AND UNCERTAINTY IN THE PANDEMIC PERIOD

Abstract

The main objective of the article is to assess the quality of exposures of economic entities (considering their division into individual entrepreneurs, the SME sector, and large enterprises) for loans to monetary financial institutions in Poland and to indicate differences in this area in the period before and during the pandemic, as well as to identify sources of credit risk in 2018-2021. An important element of the research was to identify the most important factors affecting the quality of bank lending to enterprises.
The research problem was assumed that during the pandemic, the uncertainty of the micro and macroeconomic situation in the economy caused banks to limit lending and tighten the criteria for lending to enterprises, as the risk was unpredictable and difficult to assess, while entrepreneurs, relying on their own resources and high liquidity in the pre-pandemic period, showed caution in taking on new liabilities.
