THE USE OF CONFORMIST BEHAVIOUR IN CONTEMPORARY INFORMATION OPERATIONS

Abstract

Conformism, i.e. submission to the will of a group, leader or recognized authority, is the force that drives a person to commit both the most heinous crime and a heroic deed. This paper will show the workings of the conditioning mechanisms of social influence on conformism. This is necessary in view of the purpose of this study. In turn, this goal is to make readers aware of the impact of conformist behavior of large social masses on the course of warfare. These issues take on particular importance in the case of wars of a new type, in which most operations will take place in a new combat environment – the human mind. This has already been confirmed by the war currently being waged in Ukraine. For this reason the study includes a general analysis of conformist behavior and its determinants of the Russian community. This is because understanding this issue can be of great importance in the event of a fullscale confrontation with Russia.
