MARIAN SODALITIES OF TEACHERS DURING THE SECOND POLISH REPUBLIC IN THE LIGHT OF THE “SODALIS MARIANUS” MAGAZINE

Abstract

Among many Marian sodalities in Poland, in the interwar period the state ones occupied a significant place, including those dedicated to women teachers. In particular years of this period, there were about thirty associations of such type, which had over the thousand and eighthundred members. Information about their activities appeared in the “Sodalis Marianus” magazine. The strictly religious one came first, but they were also active in other areas. For example, they supported missions. They were also socially active as teachers. They helped poor youth, organized community centers for students, and took a stand on the educational policy implemented by the authorities. They fought against the demoralization of young people, caring for education in the Catholic and national spirit.
