Poles of non-Polish nationality and the formation of the Polish Army in the USSR – selected documents from the archive of Ambassador Stanisław Kot

Patrycja Masternak

Abstract

In the KUL University Library there are copies of documents related to the formation of the Polish Army in the USSR. Fascinating are especially those, which illustrate the struggle of political and military authorities for Polish citizens of non-Polish origin. After two years of Soviet occupation, these people were perfectly aware of what the Soviet Russia was and they massively expressed their willingness to join the Polish Army. Due to Soviet provocations and the USSR’s disregard for international law, not everyone was helped.
