The Siege of Zamość Fortress in 1813
Abstract
The article discusses the 1813 siege of Zamość Fortress by the Russian army. This time, it is the Russians, rather than the Poles, that are the main “protagonists.” The composition of the Russian corps besieging Zamość and its constant changes in accordance with the arising needs of the warfare. In a short outline, the actions of the besiegers to take over the fortress were shown, which were always dependent on the forces and resources available at that time. These actions were aimed at quick and thus bloody settlements.
