The DiffServ Network Simulation with Packets Priority Differentiation Based on Hurst Parameter of the Video Stream

Abstract

The paper show the simulation results of video streaming over the DiffServ network. It also presents the video sequences test methodology that uses an EvalVid package and DiffServ simulation in NS-2 network simulator. The results obtained allowed to calculate the basic quality parameters of moving picture received over the network, such as: PSNR, MOS, loss, delay and jitter. Final results of research show that the using of the proposed idea, consisting in setting the packets priority in a dynamic way, leads to improve the video streaming quality, compared with the traditional static approach.
