Z Kołobrzegu przez Kruszwicę do Włocławka. Przyczynek do dziejów diecezji włocławskiej

Józef Dębiński

Abstrakt

The diocese of Włocławek is one of the oldest in Poland. Its history is connected with the creation of the bishopric in Kołobrzeg (1000 r.) and then in Kruszwica and Wloclawek. Boleslaw Krzywousty and papal legate Giles from Tusculum contributed to the creation of the Diocese of Kujawy and Pomeranian (Wloclawek). Bishops of Włocławek played an important role in Polish history. They helped to overcome regional divisions and acted as vice primate. As a result of the territorial division of the Diocese of Kujawy and Pomerania in 1818. There has been the erection of a new diocese Kujawy and Kalisz, with the number of 344 parishes. With the recovery of independence in 1918 and concluded by Poland concordat with the Holy See (1925) there was a new territorial division of the Church in Poland. The Holy See has reduced the area of the diocese to 249 parishes and restored to its former name „diocese of Włocławek”. This state survived until 1992, when John Paul II made another reorganization of the metropolitan network, which was completed in 2004. A separate period in the history of diocese includes the time of Second World War. 331 out of 432 priests were arrested, 225 priests were killed in concentration camps and prisons, i.e. 50.2% of the clergy of Włoclawek. The act of beatification of 9 priests in 1999 was the recognition and appreciation of their faith. The cult of saints and blessed such as: St. Andrew Świerad, bl. Bogumił, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St.. Faustyna and bł. Jerzy Popiełuszko(drowned in the Vistula) is strictly connected with the diocese of Włocławek.
