Agential network district of Wałcz in the Stalinist period (case of five UBP informers)

Abstract

The main object of the article are the methods and forms of recruitment of secret collaborators by the communistic security services. They were an important security tools for recognizing and eliminating people and political activities that could harm
the then Polish communistic state. The authors of this study are exemplifying this problem by analyzing of the activities of five security officers in the district of Wałcz during the Stalinist period. So far this problem has not been the subject of a serious
historical debate in the district of Wałcz. This article should be treated as the beginning of a wider discussion about this difficult period (1945-1956) of the history of Wałcz. The authors was analysing the set of documents from the archives of the Institute of
National Remembrance in Poznań and Szczecin.
