The Information Strategies of the Mass Media Reporting on the Smolensk Catastrophe

Abstract

The article describes the process of informing the public about the Smolensk catastrophe via mainstream Polish mass media. The analysis has been based on Alvin Toffler’s approach to information strategies. The author also presents the effects of implementing certain information strategies within the Polish infosphere and in view of the information safety of the target audiences. The conclusions point to ingrained pathology within the information media system of the time.
