Dogma in the Digital Age: The Credibility of Faith in the Age of New Media. A Theological Study

Jakub Trendowicz

Abstract

The aim of this article is to answer the question: how to maintain credibility in the “digital” transmission of content that naturally conditions and determines a safe and harmonious social life, given that various types of manipulation are very easy to carry out in virtual space? This element of social life also belongs to the segment of the mission that the Church fulfills in society care for the condition of every human being and the objective transmission of truth as a synthesis of goodness and beauty, which, as three coherent components, naturally reflect the action of God Himself in the Holy Trinity. Therefore, attention will be devoted to the process of caring for the transmission of the truths of faith, which are comprehensively contained in the “dogmatic statements” of the Church. As part of the argument, the method of analyzing selected texts from the teachings of the Magisterium of the Church, popes, and theologians will be used, as well as their interpretation within the contemporary historical and socio-cultural context.
