The features of the legislation of the Republic of Poland in the field of the rights protection of the national and ethnic minorities as well as persons using the regional language have been analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the political and legal aspects of the development and implementation of the Law of the Republic of Poland «On National and Ethnic Minorities and on the Regional Language.» The given article shows that Polish legislation is consistent with the generally accepted European standards in the field of minority rights protection. The problematic points of legislation that adversely affect the socio-political activities of national and ethnic minorities in Poland have been highlighted.
