Expectations of Candidates for Head Teachers in Terms of Educating Managers of Educational Institutions: An Analysis of Survey Responses from Six Editions of a Postgraduate Course (2020-2023)

The article focuses on the analysis of the expectations of candidates for head teachers who have undertaken postgraduate studies in a field entitling them to work as head teachers of state schools. The aim of the study was to determine the expectations and key needs of future educational management personnel in the context of school curricula and the management of the teaching process. The survey was conducted on the entire population (206 participants) of six editions of a postgraduate course in educational management run between 2020 and 2023. This comprehensive approach enabled a broad perspective on the researched problem. Based on the provided responses, the authors’ own catalogue of the students’ expectations was compiled. The occurrence and strength of the relationship between the identified expectations were verified using the chi-square test and the Phi coefficient. The research identifies a specific group of postgraduate students who already hold a managerial position and analyses the gender structure of the respondents. Their answers are a valuable source of information that can help adapt education and training programmes in the field of education management to the real needs of the education sector.
