Social and cultural challenges in contemporary migration policy of the Russian Federation

Abstract

This article is devoted to investigating migration processes throughout the Russian Federation from the angle of social development and cultural interaction. The model of relations between immigrants and the native population presented may be described as isolating. The risk for the society borne along with ineffective integration mechanisms is also considered. The problem of national identity among the inhabitants of The Russian Federation (both the immigrants and the host society) is being touched upon especially when it comes to active migration processes. The author turns special attention to forming a new migration policy for the state, especially in the aspect of integration.
