Nature – Culture – Sacrum. Patterns of Individual’s Self-Identification in the Light of Post-1980 Poetry of Tatra and Podhale Region

Ewa Kalus-Korgol

Abstract

The two perspectives of description: objective – the point of view of an external observer (etic), and subjective, „indigenous peoples point of view” (emic) defining two sources of poetic reflection, as well as two types of these experiences differentiating the forms of existence with the sphere of nature and culture, indicate that the regions of Tatra mountains and Podhale are created as an ideal, imaginary space, implying the idea of axiomatic references center. The poetical effusions of feelings are inscribed in the discourse on the anthropology of town and the country, individual and group identity in the times of globalization and self-identification of an individual through the process of self-identification with an ethnic group, a “small homeland”, as well as through contact with nature that implies the idea of sacrum.

Keywords:

poetry of the Tatra-Podhale region, the etic(al) and emic(al) description of culture and literature, cultural assimilation, identity, sacrum, nature, culture
