Abstract
The core of the text is a report on the scientific conference ‘Good upbringing - ideals and practices’, which took place in June 2024 in Zamość. The context is a consideration of the absence of the issue of good upbringing in contemporary scientific discourse, its significance and the importance attached to it by ‘ordinary’ people. The organisation of the conference revealed considerable interest in this issue on the part of representatives of various disciplines in the social sciences and humanities, and may serve as a stimulus for empirical research, broadening and deepening reflection on good parenting and its transformations, as well as tensions between ideals and practices in this area.
