Defense attachés, specialized military personnel stationed at embassies, play a key role in achieving the strategic objectives of a country’s security policy abroad. They not only constitute part of the diplomatic structure but are primarily a tool of defense diplomacy, enabling the building and strengthening of international relations in the security domain. This article focuses on the activities of Polish defense attachés in the first twenty-five years of the 21st century, analyzing their evolution in terms of numbers and geographical distribution. The analysis is historical and descriptive in nature and is based on empirical data, allowing for the identification of key areas of operation for Polish attachés. The conclusions drawn from the study provide a clearer understanding of their role in shaping Poland’s position on the international stage, especially in the context of contemporary geopolitical challenges, asymmetric threats, and the growing importance of multilateral security mechanisms.
