Amateur Early Music Ensembles in Poland in 2001–2025: Dynamics, Structure, and Prospects of the Performance Movement

Abstract

The aim of the article is to present the amateur early music movement in Poland in the years 2001–2025 and to highlight its significance as a form of cultural education for children and young people. The theoretical section outlines the origins of historically informed performance and the role of amateur music-making in shaping the artistic sensibility, social competences, and cultural identity of young participants. The empirical section presents the findings of research into the dynamics, structure, and institutional background of the movement over the quarter-century under study. The article concludes with a diagnosis of current challenges and a call for the development of recommendations for cultural policy in support of this important yet endangered segment of Polish musical life.
