On the Polish-Jewish Relations in Lublin in the 20th century (until 1939)

Konrad Zieliński

Abstract

The Polish-Jewish relations in Lublin in the 20th century did not differ much from those recorded in other similar-sized urban centres of the Kingdom of Poland and independent Poland during the inter-war period. However, some specific of the city, the role played during the Great War, the fact that the Catholic University and Yeshiva Khakhmei Lublin were located there, determined the mutual relations. The article sketches the most important problems, conflicts, and platforms for cooperation between the Poles and the Jews in Lublin between the years 1900-1939.
