There was wave of pogroms and anti-Semitic riots in the newly established Poland within the first months of it’s independence. One of them have taken place on 3 May 1919 in Borowa, big village near Mielec. After the incident a few people were detained, and MP Franciszek Krempa from the Polish Peasant Party-Left (PSL Lewica) intervented in their case on 26 June 1919. The document which is published shows the attitudes of the peasantry and PSL Lewica politicians towards the rural and small-town Jewish community. The intervene is undoubtedly example of the strong commitment of one of the most active peasant parliamentarians to his voters, but also of his disregard for the problem of Jewish security and the rights of the Jewish minority.
