BLESSED MARIA ANGELA TRUSZKOWSKA – FOUNDRESS OF THE FELICIAN SISTERS CONGREGATION

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to portray the life and activities of Blessed Maria Angela Truszkowska, the co-founder of the Congregation of Felician Sisters. From an early age, she was devoted to helping the needy. She took the initiative to establish a home for orphans and the elderly in Warsaw, welcomed collaborators, and submitted herself to the spiritual guidance of Blessed Father Honorat Koźmiński. After the fall of the January Uprising, she moved to Krakow, where the community experienced a revival and significant growth. Due to illness, she had to relinquish her role as the superior, and for 30 years, through prayer, suffering, and work in the garden, she completely trusted in God and faithfully fulfilled His will. The community founded by her experiences a great flourishing on both hemispheres. She herself was raised to the altars, and her relics are housed in the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary Star of the New Evangelization and St. John Paul II in Toruń.
