Harmful Content in the form of the Image of the Modern Woman in Audiovisual Media

Abstract

The subject of the article is the issue of harmful content present in audiovisual media in the form of women presented in them. Reference was made here primarily to the image that can be used in a way that is friendly to our eyes, or leave a bad taste and scandal, as in the messages, where half-naked women are shown, deprived of dignity and feminine beauty – films, series, music videos, advertisements. The aim of these considerations is to show the problem that affects today, in the world of television, modern women, whose body is needed only and exclusively for better sales of the media product, as well as to show that a woman plays a very important role in society, as a mother and wife. The article pays special attention to: stereotypes of femininity in television and other media, sexualization, eroticism, levels of viewer engagement, constructiveness of media images, influence, fear, violence and aggression, reification, motherhood. The article attempts to prove the thesis that the fair sex in audiovisual media is very often treated in an instrumental way, and images of this type become content-wise harmful to part of the society of the modern world.
