Sažetak

The Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia in 20th century has become a community of martyrs. During the World War II many Catholic priests and religious were imprisoned in the concentration camps, especially in KL Dachau. Czechoslovakia was one of the communist countries with the most severe persecutions of Catholic clergymen. In Czechoslovakia an eminent figure was cardinal Stephen Trochta, a salesian who was suffering because of his faith. He is an example of these clergymen who suffered from both totalitarian systems: national socialism of the Third Reich and the communism. The first Czech clergyman among the Salesian spent in German and Czechoslovakian prisons together thirteen years. The article presents his short biography and his way of martyrdom in German and Czechoslovakian prisons.
