Epistemological Security in the Face of Transhumanist Digital Technologies as a Key Domain of Protection in the Contemporary State

Abstract

The article addresses the issue of the epistemological security of the modern state in the face of the rapid development of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), and the growing influence of transhumanist ideology. It analyzes the spectrum of threats to cognitive sovereignty and social resilience, which include, among others, the phenomena of covert data poisoning, disinformation, algorithmic problems within Smart City spaces, and the philosophical aspects of cognitive warfare. The progressive integration of technology with human life – visible in phenomena such as “cognitive offloading”, the development of brain-machine interfaces (BMI), and the mass digitization of medical and biometric data – raises unprecedented political and existential challenges. By embedding the analysis in the evolution of philosophical reflection, from classical theories of cognition to contemporary social epistemology, a proactive model of the state’s epistemological security architecture is proposed. This model is based on five pillars: (1) epistemic authenticity, (2) algorithmic transparency, (3) maximizing positive veristic value (promoting the truth), (4) the efficiency of inter-institutional information exchange, and (5) building social resilience through education and prebunking. The conclusion demonstrates that technological filters are insufficient for the full protection of the state. It is postulated that the epistemological defense system should include the role of religion as a “double stabilizer,” which provides an unchanging axiological anchor and protects the individual against the technocratic reduction of the human being.
