Abstract

The issues being discussed are the specifics and evolution of the position of the Monarch in Spain. We examine the political system of this state in the context of the role of the head of state. The historical and contemporary role and the position of the king in Spain have also been mentioned. The most important thesis in this paper is: that the role of the head of State in Spain is to moderate the political scene. We analyze the parts of Spanish constitution regarding the prerogatives of the monarchy according to which the king is the symbol of unity and durability of the state. He is also the arbiter and moderator among the state institutions. He represents the state in international relations and executes the prerogatives which have been given to him by the constitution and bills.
