This article discusses the regulations of diocesan synods from the Second Polish Republic concerning religious education in schools. The analysis is divided into five parts. The first part discusses the synod regulations, which indicate the goals that the Catholic Church in Poland set for religious education. The second part discusses the procedures for appointing school prefects and other teachers. The third part analyzes the decisions concerning the duties of prefects in the field of teaching, improving their professional qualifications, and organizing religious practices for students. The fourth part discusses the types and course of religious activities for school youth, while the last part discusses the system of school inspections, which were the most important instrument of church control over religious education in schools.
