The issue of the Judenrat in Lublin were never as yet to develop, despite the well-preserved source base, which is founded on material deposited in the State Archive in Lublin and the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw. Using them will undoubtedly lead to increased knowledge of the Holocaust in the context of the local Jewish population. Judenrat in Lublin was established in January 1940, which was given effect in November 1939 Regulation of Governor General Hans Frank, the creation of the Jewish Councils. At the time of the establishment of the city was home to about 40 000 Jews, in accordance with Regulation translated into the establishment of an institution in the number of 24 persons. The Judenrat operated this line until the end of March 1942, when as a result of the liquidation and transfer Podzamcze small part of the Jews to the Tartar Maidan district, by the Germans body was reduced to 12 councilors. The task was to manage the Council of Jewish residential district, and since March 1941 and the introduction of the ghetto within them an order issued by the occupation authorities, including the preparation of quotas of Jewish workers. Com-petencies that had the Lublin Judenrat did not differ substantially from those that have the same institutions in other places. The Council through its Departments have an obligation to ensure minimum subsistence levels for food, sanitary-hygienic and housing. Despite a significantly limited powers, it can be assumed that the Judenrat in Lublin fills the role of pseudo-self-government. The article is a only a general attempt to analyze the structure and functioning of the Jewish Council in Lublin, and thus does not suit the research problem flagged.
