Abstract

The issue of the Judenrat in Lublin were never as yet to develop, despite the well-preserved source base, which is founded on material deposited in the State Archive in Lublin and the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw. Using them will undoubtedly lead to increased knowledge of the Holocaust in the context of the local Jewish population. Judenrat in Lublin was established in January 1940, which was given effect in November 1939 Regulation of Governor General Hans Frank, the creation of the Jewish Councils. At the time of the establishment of the city was home to about 40 000 Jews, in accordance with Regulation translated into the establishment of an institution in the number of 24 persons. The Judenrat operated this line until the end of March 1942, when as a result of the liquidation and transfer Podzamcze small part of the Jews to the Tartar Maidan district, by the Germans body was reduced to 12 councilors.
