Operation URIC – the largest foreign military operation of the Republic of Zimbabwe Rhodesia

Abstract

Operation URIC, which lasted from 1 to 7 September 1979, is the largest military involvement of the Republic of Zimbabwe Rhodesia abroad. It was carried out together with the South African Air Force. The aim was to prevent further guerrilla action by the combined forces of Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army and Forcas Populares de Libertação De Moçambique. Operation was a failure in military, but there was a political success.
