The history of Szczebrzeszyn on the Basis of an Anonymous Typescript from the State Archive in Zamość
Abstract
The article was written on the basis of a typescript kept in the State Archives in Zamość, in the Files of the City of Szczebrzeszyn, under the name "History of Szczebrzeszyn".The text presents the history of the town and its 5-year action plan proposed by the Municipal National Council in Szczebrzeszyn for the years 1960-1965. The historical part ends with the year 1823 and information on the local school. The document presents plans for changes in the region’s agriculture, trade, and industry. It also lists specific measures to improve the quality of the community’s life, such as new buildings and roads. Generally, the plan outlines an ambitious vision of creating an industrial centre in the region, which was to be made up of Szczebrzeszyn, Klemensów and Bodaczów.
