Lack of Mathematical Patrons of Educational Institutions in the City of Poznań

Why and How to Change It?

Abstract

The present text aims to show what kindergartens and elementary schools in the city of Poznan have patrons and to verify whether there are among them patrons whose profession, life achievements, and passion oscillated around mathematics and its issues. It is assumed, for example, that the patron should be a personal model for children and young people attending the institution. Thus, the purpose of this study is not only to see what patrons selected educational institutions in Poznań have most often adopted but also, and perhaps most importantly, to see if there are outstanding figures of Polish mathematicians among them.
