Foster Care Leavers’ Experiences in Process of Gaining Independence

Abstract

In this paper we present the results of qualitative research on the process of gaining independence by young people placed in foster care. We used the analytical potential of the theory of transition. It allowed us to grasp the dynamics of individual and collective changes during transition to adulthood of the youth from foster care, in which they were prepared for independent living.
