Historical-Systemic Project of Pedagogy of Zygmunt Kukulski (1890–1944)

Abstract

The subject of this article is the concept of pedagogy developed by Zygmunt Kukulski and framed in terms of its historical and theoretical peculiarities. The choice of topic is important in that it concerns one of the first pioneering Polish pedagogical concepts of the interwar period. Moreover, it is the product of a pedagogue little known to the contemporary pedagogical environment in Poland. Kukuski includes in it both a reference to his contemporary achievements in natural sciences, philosophy and history, treating them as a source for formulating the goals, methods and content of upbringing. Importantly, Kukulski also addresses the issue of national upbringing. He formulates postulates for changing the Polish national character, placing them in the context of universal social, cultural and educational regularities.
