Rev. Prof. Władysław Kubik SJ – Catechist and Religious Educator

Abstract

The political transformation in Poland enabled a comprehensive and interdisciplinary development of research on the pedagogy of religion, one of the precursors of which is Władysław Kubik, a figure of considerable significance within this field. A Jesuit, professor, rector, pedagogue and catechist, Kubik is also renowned as the founder of the Institute of Religious Culture and the Religious Pedagogy Section in the Philosophical Faculty of the Society of Jesus in Cracow. It is evident that he made a significant contribution to the development of the pedagogy of religion in Poland. Indeed, he extended the subject of research in this sub-discipline to include all processes of religious education and socialisation. The aim of the present research is to provide an insight into the Professor's life path and contribution to the institutionalisation of religious education studies.
