Orphaned and Deprived of Care Children in the Second Polish Republic – Conditions for the Development of Care Activities

Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the situation of orphaned and deprived of care children during the Second Polish Republic, as well as the types of assistance provided to this social group by the reborn state. It showcases the work of selected pioneers of orphan care at the time: Kazimierz Jeżewski, Józef Czesław Babicki, and Janusz Korczak. The article also outlines the principles of the main legal acts of interwar Poland related to the regulation of state obligations towards its citizens, including children deprived of care.
