Detention in a Penal Home as a turning Point in the Biographies of Selected Female Prisoners of the Fordon Penal Home in the Interwar Period

Abstract

Two extreme cases of women who were serving their sentences for committing various crimes-murder, theft and complicity in murder-will be presented and discussed. Their examples will be used to analyze whether the crime itself, as well as the subsequent detention and serving of the sentence, affected the lives of women. It will also be possible to obtain an answer to the question whether the discussed events were turning points in the lives of female prisoners?
