Retirement and the end of a professional career are undoubtedly significant turning points within an individual's biography, marked by a multitude of societal, biological, and economic changes. These changes permeate various dimensions of life, encompassing alterations in social and financial standing, the loss of occupational positions and authority, the dissolution of established network of contacts and routines, the shifting perception of time, changes in roles and health. This study aims to undertake an analysis and reconstruction of the process of transition from the active working phase to the state of retirement. To achieve this objective, the research adopts a theoretical and methodological framework based on Fritz Schütz's approach to autobiographical narrative interviews. The obtained results indicate the diversity of meanings attributed by narrators to their experiences in different phases of the transition process. Narrators exhibit different forms of attitude towards their own lives, which means varying process structures that shape their biographies and which are organized and ordered in diverse ways.
