This article is the result of an autoethnographic study of the socio-cultural perspective of motherhood. It refers to the tradition of human science research. Following the adopted method, the author aims at the individual and subjective life experience of being a woman-mother who learns to be a mother, learns to be in relationship with another human being. She looks inside herself, looking at her own mothering practice, conducting an autoethnographic study that is in itself a teaching, transformative experience. She explores the flux of her actions as a mother, her pedagogical involvement in her child's development, in the context of Max Van Manen's theory of the pedagogical relationship. She interprets the experience of meeting the child she is about to experience, using intuitive tools to support the development of self-awareness and introspection (lifeline, map of basic concepts). The author directs her attention to the vivid experience of the wonder of the world of the child she co-experiences. She wants to show the complexity of her own experience in the light of Max van Manen's theory of relationships. She connects the cultural with the private.
