Parental Narrations in Social Media

Abstract

Nowadays new media are the source of innovative solutions in communication and, as such, they influence people's awareness, way of thinking, behaviour and everyday life. A certain type of media civilisation has been developed leading to numerous previously unknown situations – chances and threats, which are an educational challenge. The phenomenon called sharenting is one of these new categories. It describes the situation in which parents share information about, photos of and films with their children with others in social media. This kind of parental activity, which is a sort of narration, requires academic reflection on its meaning and sense, as well as causes and consequences for the parents' and child's biographies at present and in the future. In order to analyse this phenomenon, the paper uses the method of analysis and synthesis of subject literature.
