Professor Mieczysław Łobocki (1926-2012) is an outstanding Polish educator, upbringing theoretician and humanist. He has been professionally related to two universities in Lublin: John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. The author of many well-known publications on the theory of upbringing, axiology and methodology of pedagogical research. A supporter and propagator of the idea of humanistic upbringing, focused on the child, its value and independence. He is a tireless researcher looking for the determinants of effective upbringing, focused on the emotional and social development of the pupils in the spirit of moral values. This article presents a synthesis of pedagogical thought of Professor Mieczysław Łobocki. Having analysed Mieczysław Łobocki's articles, the authors of the study are able to present the results of his work. Mieczysław Łobocki's articles, as well as the authors' long-term experience of cooperation with the Professor, are the basis for the study of his approach to upbringing, characterized by sensitivity and concern for the well-being of others. The text is enriched with a short biographical note about the Professor, shedding some light on his personality and pedagogical views.
