S. Julia Rodzińska – Witness of the Truth about Human Dignity

Abstract

Before World War II, S. Julia Rodzińska was an educator in Vilnius – a teacher and tutor in state schools and in the Orphanage. During the war she taught religion, history and the Polish language in secret classes and organised food for retired priests. For these activities she was sentenced by the Gestapo to a year of torment in a Vilnius prison and then sent to the German concentration camp in Stutthof near Gdansk. In the camp hell she kept a human face and supported others to live and die with dignity. This article tells the story of this remarkable figure.
