Jan Dobrzański was a well-known education’s historian in Lublin. His career path ran from high schools to universities, as well as the great part in the teacher training courses. In his activities over the years, he was involved in the work of the valued societies and organizations, being a part of their Lublin branches. His professional experience and organizational potential were appreciated, entrusting him with the important functions and positions, including the head of the department, vice-chancellor of the Catholic University of Lublin and head of the department, dean and vice-chancellor of the Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin. He perfectly combined his scientific passions with didactic activity. The scientific research led by him oscillated around three issues of schooling and education in Galicia from 1773 to the end of the mid-nineteenth century, the education and the upbringing of the Duchy of Warsaw and the Kingdom of Poland until the January Uprising, and the cultural, scientific and educational life of Lublin and the Lublin region. He was a valued teacher in many high schools, in particular in the State Gimnazjum named S. Staszic and later the Junior High School and High School named S. Staszic in Lublin, a recognized and respected academic teacher at Lublin universities.
