World War II – the Period from June 1941 – in the Memories of the Residents of Lukowiec

Abstract

In the villages of Lukowiec Wisniowski and Lukowiec Zhurovsky (Stanislavov’s voivodeships of the Second Republic), a self-defense and partisan base of the Home Army operated in 1942-1945. As a result, these villages became a place of rescue for several thousand people during the genocidal actions carried out by Ukrainian nationalists. The article contains accounts of the life of the Lukowce community during World War II from June 1941, compiled from the memories of the residents of these villages.
