„Letters from Travels” by Anna Zofia Krygowska as a Source of Afterthought on the Shape of Mathematics Education

Abstract

The debate about good mathematical preparation of students at every stage of education remains lively and extremely relevant worldwide. The search for systemic and didactic solutions continues to generate considerable interest among those involved in developing the mathematical competences of future generations. This article reflects on the views of Professor Anna Zofia Krygowska, based on her deep knowledge of mathematics, experience in teaching children and young people, and international contacts, which, in her opinion, enabled her to engage in substantive and informed discussions that challenged her own beliefs.

The text discusses three main areas of her international activity: the role of the teacher and their preparation for teaching, the conscious and active shaping of the mathematical learning process, and the concept of a „mathematical culture for all."

Keywords:
