Abstract

The article undertakes an analysis of Martha Craven Nussbaum's scientific achievements in the context of her life history. The author's intention was to search for a possible connection between elements of Nussbaum's life history and the concept of family proposed in her writings. To achieve this goal, Nussbaum's writings were used to reconstruct her concept of family, her life history was described, elements of this history that may have influenced concept of family proposed by her were enumerated, and finally the specificity of the relationship between the elements of this concept and particular events in Martha C. Nussbaum's life was defined.
