Janina Doroszewska was a pioneer of pedagogical methods, especially for children with special needs. Both in her scientific work and professional activity, she had an individual approach to raising children, caring for the disabled, medical, psychological and pedagogical therapy. She educated generations of today's pedagogues, especially in special education. She paid attention to the role of the woman and mother, including her doctoral thesis on Marian themes. Both Janina Doroszewska and her husband, professor of linguistics Witold Doroszewski, were motivated in their lives and public activities by strong values of patriotism. They proved it during the Second World War - Janina in taking care of blind children in Laski, and Witold in underground university teaching. During 1950s and 1960s, they sympathized with the communist opposition in Poland, participating in meetings of the Crooked Circle Club and in the 1970s, of the Workers' Defence Committee.
