A Teacher Supporting the Development of Disabled Youth. Contribution to a Biography

Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the teacher and his activities for the benefit of disabled students. The teacher, Agnieszka Gadzińska-Kita, in the years 1986-2021, conducted extra-curricular art classes, supporting the development of disabled youth. Her systematic work, with painstaking, creative effort, brought benefits to her students in terms of cognitive, social and emotional development. The effects are not measurable. The research area was the Professor Zofia Sękowska Special School and Educational Centre for Disabled Children and Youth in Lublin. The role of artistic activities of therapeutic importance is outlined. An attempt to reconstruct such activities includes a general insight into the didactic process, the pupils’ preferences, and the results they achieve. The methods of pedagogical monograph were used.
