The Reality of the (No)Place in the Biography of a „Migrating Child”

Abstract

The aim of the article is to show, by interpreting events and facts pedagogically, the biography of an individual who, despite difficult initial environmental conditions, managed to change. At the same time, through the prism of individual experience, the reality of the operation of the system of assistance to children deprived of parental care is described. The absence of a sense of security and care from her parents and family, sometimes even a threat to her life, forced her to change her place of residence repeatedly. She became a child without a place - a " migrating" child: she experienced several forms of temporary foster care - kinship care, institutional care and non-professional family care. She reached adulthood as a strong, determined woman, confident in her self-worth, with a formed vision of the future. A confluence of positive biographical events led to a break with the past, a kind of biographical metamorphosis and rooting in the spatial and social structure.
