Myszków as a Place where Franciszek Nadrowski Carried out His Professional and Social Activities

Abstract

Franciszek Nadrowski was a school headmaster and social activist in Myszków. He came from Rypin and graduated from a teacher training college in Wymyślin. He ended up in Myszków escaping from tsarist repressions he was facing for his patriotic activities during the school strikes of 1905. In Myszków, he was involved in the activities of the Polish Educational Society and later became headmaster of a factory school. He was a volunteer during the Polish-Soviet War. He quickly became known as an organiser of scout troops, the “Sokół” (‘Falcon’) Gymnastic Society, an activist of the Maritime and Colonial League, and a supporter of national democracy. Throughout the interwar period, he was a respected educator of young people. Arrested by the Germans during World War II, he died in the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp.
